Shaping the Wreath

Step 1: Roll and Slice the Dough Log

  • Roll your cinnamon-filled dough log on a lightly floured surface
  • Using a sharp knife with a gentle sawing motion (try not pressing down), slice the log into 1-inch thick rounds. Then slice those in half to make about 1/2” sections. Keep the 1/4”-1/2” inside section intact. To keep the wreath connected
  • You should get approximately 20-24 slices depending on your log size

Step 2: Arrange in Wreath Formation

  • Place a small oven-safe bowl or ramekin in the center of your parchment-lined baking sheet
  • Arrange the sliced cookies in a circle around the bowl, with the cut sides facing up. Remove bowl.
  • Space cookies so they’re just touching or slightly overlapping – they’ll spread slightly during baking. If you need to slice the cookie dough deeper go ahead just make sure you leave some attached
  • Make sure the cinnamon swirl pattern is visible on each slice
  • Pinch the two ends together in the center to connect the wreath.

Step 3: Final Touches

  • Let the arranged cookies rest at room temperature for 10 minutes (allows layers to settle and bond)

Baking Instructions

  1. Bake for 23-30 minutes until edges are just turning golden but centers still look slightly soft
  2. Cool on baking sheet for 10 minutes
  3. Transfer to wire rack to cool completely
  4. Gently remove parchement

Pro Tips

  • Knife technique: Use a sawing motion rather than pressing straight down to avoid squishing the dough
  • Even spacing: Aim for cookies to just touch each other – they’ll create a beautiful connected wreath as they bake
  • Circle: gently spread the middle circle and arrange cookies as you go
  • Storage: Store covered at room temperature for up to 3 days

Fluffy Cream Cheese Dip

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup Cool Whip
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the cream cheese: Make sure your cream cheese is completely softened – this is key to getting it smooth and airy. Let it sit at room temperature for about an hour.
  2. Whip the cream cheese: Using an electric mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until it’s light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add dry ingredients: Gradually beat in the powdered sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Fold in Cool Whip: Gently fold the Cool Whip into the cream cheese mixture using a spatula. Fold just until combined – overmixing will deflate the airiness.
  5. Chill and serve: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to let it set up slightly.
  6. Optional: Sprinkle top with a whisper of cinnamon

Tips:

  • The dip will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days
  • If it seems too thick, fold in an extra tablespoon of unwhipped cream
  • For extra cinnamon roll flavor, add a tiny pinch of nutmeg
  • Serve chilled alongside or in the center circle of your warm cinnamon roll sugar cookies for the perfect contrast

Yield: About 2 cups of dip

Serving Suggestion

This wreath makes a stunning centerpiece and guests can pull apart the connected cookies directly from the wreath! The airy cream cheese dip provides the perfect cool, creamy contrast to the warm, spiced cookies.
